From June 23–28, 2025, students with disabilities gathered at UNLV for CRAVE Camp, an immersive week of Careers, Recreation, and Vocational Education. The camp empowers students through advocacy, accommodations, and supportive services, ensuring access to college, careers, and recreational opportunities, while promoting independence and leadership. Campers stayed in the dorms, managed daily routines, and participated in evening recreational activities designed to build teamwork and lasting friendships.
The week kicked off with campers moving into the dorms, setting goals through vision boards, attending workshops on self-determination, and enjoying giant 36-inch pizzas before a lively pool party. Day 2 focused on advocacy, communication, and college readiness, featuring sessions with NDALC, the College of Southern Nevada, and a memorable outing to see Mystère by Cirque du Soleil. On Day 3, campers explored personal growth and self-care, learned about Vocational Rehabilitation, practiced time and stress management, and ended the day cheering on the Las Vegas Aviators baseball team. Day 4 emphasized professionalism, teamwork, and community exploration with visits to the library and transportation center, capped off with dinner at In-N-Out and a fun night of bowling.
The week ended on a high note with a camp prom, where students danced the night away, followed by a heartfelt graduation ceremony. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as campers stood proudly before their families to share their favorite moments and lessons from the week-long camp.
By blending career preparation, recreation, and independence, CRAVE Camp equips students with the skills, confidence, and experiences needed to thrive in school, work, and life—leaving them with friendships, memories, and inspiration that last far beyond the week.
