Shaping Nevada’s Disability Employment Policy

The Nevada Office of Disability Employment Policy (NV ODEP) analyzes data, develops evidence, advances policy, and strengthens partnerships that expand competitive integrated employment for Nevadans with disabilities.

Mission, Vision, & Purpose

9

Mission

NV ODEP researches, develops and implements policies, programs, practices, and partnerships that increase the number and quality of employment opportunities for Nevadans with disabilities.

9

Vision

A Nevada workforce where every person with a disability who wants to work can access competitive integrated employment — supported by inclusive employers, evidence-based services, and policy aligned to outcomes.
9

Purpose

As the policy and systems-change office within Nevada’s Rehabilitation Division, NV ODEP complements VR Nevada’s direct services by producing the evidence, building the partnerships, and shaping the policy environment that make those services more effective at scale.

what ODEP does

Policy Development

We translate evidence into recommendations for legislators, agencies, and workforce boards. Our policy briefs target Nevada-specific levers: state procurement, apprenticeship standards, transition services, employer incentives, and workforce funding alignment.

Data & Research

We produce data briefs, public reports, and economic impact analyses that quantify how disability employment moves Nevada’s economy. Our work draws on VR Nevada’s program data, Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates, and partner research.

Initiatives & Demonstration Projects

We launch, scale, and evaluate model initiatives, Inclusive Apprenticeships, Progressive Employment, the UNLV Policy Partnership — that test what works in Nevada and turn promising practices into standard practice.

Collaboration and Teamwork in a Professional Environment

Partnerships & Technical Assistance

We convene the state agencies, universities, employers, and community providers whose combined effort moves the needle. We provide technical assistance to partners adopting evidence-based practices.
