Rebecca Larios was living with several seriously disabling conditions, including mental health as well as physical impairments. Rebecca came to the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation in December of 2019 and actively worked towards completing her post-secondary education training in Nursing at Great Basin College. The Elko VR staff describe Rebecca as a ‘model client’ who has been determined to complete her college training program and has proactively participated in VR services for the past 5 years to obtain her personal and financial independence all while balancing life as a single parent, managing multiple disabilities and family issues, and commuting to Elko to attend Great Basin College full time.
Rebecca recently graduated from Great Basin College in May 2024 with her Associates of Applied Science in Nursing and earned A’s and B’s in all of her classes since starting the Nursing Program. She has passed her RN Licensure exam in June and became employed full time just a few weeks later as a Registered Nurse at New Horizon Home Health Care. Rebecca was offered a starting wage of over $80K per year with benefits.”
